You may have seen this month’s trivia questions circulating on social media. Each question was answered in a May 2nd Facebook LIVE segment. We’ve launched a series called #BoardroomTrivia, where we explore a hot-button board topic each month. For the month of May, our topic takes a little bit of a different format. We’re highlighting three milestone ‘Boardroom Anniversaries’ including:
- 15 year anniversary of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act
- 10 year anniversary of The Center for Audit Quality (CAQ)
What’s the answer to Question #1 (above)? It’s TRUE. The Sarbanes-Oxley Act passed in the Senate with a vote of 99 to 0—no senator voted against. In fact, in the House of Representatives only three congressmen voted against the bill, which means the legislative voting total for SOX was 522 to 3. It’s hard to imagine that kind of bipartisan support happening today.
We answer the remaining questions in our monthly Facebook segment (embedded below), where we also take the time to discuss the impact of Sarbanes-Oxley on investor confidence.
